 In a culture that is quick to judge, inflating and deflating the female celebrity, a vitriolic public media trial ensues when a positivity influencer is revealed as a childhood bully. The accused and the accuser, two childhood “friends” who haven’t spoken for 15 years are forced to revisit the incident that  tore them apart in high-school.

The Sitayana

How to make an exit

An artful transposition of the Hindu epic The Ramayana told from Sita’s point of view. Part epic tale, part coming of age story, Sitayana is the ultimate breakup play. Audiences will be able to choose between three different incarnations of Sita from whom to hear their stories which along the way upend traditional gender norms and subvert idealized views of femininity.

A mother’s funeral in a playground.

The pandemic traps three old friends Gita, Arvind, and Umar in their childhood apartment complex in Chennai. Matters take a morbid turn when Arvind’s mother suddenly dies. COVID cases are growing worse and nothing is working as it should, not even funeral grounds. Chaos ensues when Arvind decides to conduct a Brahmin funeral in their children’s playground!

The tortured life of a maverick known as the Byron of Bengal, who changed the scope of Bengali poetry in the nineteenth century. A genius who never got his due, Michael Madhusdan Dutt struggled with an identity crisis throughout his life -he wrote in the English language, changed his religion and was a restless traveller, yearning to belong somewhere but betrayed by hope.

Window on Women – Bittu, Chand and Indian Women Rising​

Indian Women Rising 

As part of our Window on Women Series we are excited to bring a special private screening of the Student Oscar Winning short film BITTU. Come meet the Writer Director Karishma Dev Dube and the Indian Women Rising Team to hear about the making of the film how they are bringing up Indian female voices. Come hear the stories of the two brilliant young actresses who play Bittu and Chand, stories that will tug at your heartstrings and make you rise to your feet in a standing ovation. They need that recognition, but even more than that they need an education, a way out of poverty for themselves and for the generations that will follow them. Join us to watch, listen, cheer and support this inspiring duo and the women that brought them to the screen!
